Graphic Designer - Part-Time Contract
Our client is a Government and Council owned initiative, working for and with the people of Tāmaki to shape the future of the community together. With the focus on empowering and enhancing the wellbeing of tangata whenua and tangata tiriti, and working to deliver better housing, infrastructure, transport, education and jobs by collaborating closely with mana whenua, community groups, schools and businesses. This Graphic Design role is for a 12 month part time contract (32 hours per week), where you will play a pivotal role in shaping and evolving the visual identity for the business. Leveraging your extensive experience, you will design culturally resonant and impactful creative assets for print, digital, and social platforms. Working within a predominantly Māori and Pacific community, you will contribute to initiatives that foster engagement, understanding, and participation in regeneration projects and community programmes.   Key Role Deliverables: Deliver high-quality, culturally relevant graphic designs that uphold brand guidelines, and support communication and marketing strategies and community engagement efforts. Create visual assets that promote awareness and participation in housing and community programmes. Ensure all designs align with the cultural values and aspirations of the Māori and Pacific communities. Maintain and develop the visual identity across all brands, including the development of brand guidelines. Design and produce a wide range of digital and print materials, including brochures, flyers, social media posts, reports, website and digital advertising graphics. Manage multiple projects simultaneously, while maintaining a high standard of design, meeting deadlines and engaging relevant stakeholders. Lead the creative development of brand guidelines and overarching brand architecture. Work closely with external partners, including print suppliers, photographers, and other creative professionals. Contribute to brainstorming and concept development for new projects and campaigns.   Experience Required: Bachelor's degree or diploma in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or a related field (or equivalent industry experience). 6+ years of experience as a graphic designer, ideally within a community-focused or public sector environment. Experience working in, or designing for, Māori and Pacific communities, with a clear understanding of cultural representation and design that resonates with these audiences. Expert level proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.) Video editing skills would be an advantage. Proficiency in designing for a range of different medium, including print publications, digital marketing and social media platforms, with a deep understanding of how to design for different formats (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, websites). Can demonstrate a strong portfolio showcasing diverse design work, with an emphasis on projects that reflect cultural or social initiatives.   This role can be located at either their Panmure or Glen Innes offices (or both).
